Hello everyone! I hope you have had a wonderfully relaxing summer. I am so excited to start the school year with you! Make sure to have gym shoes with you for Wednesday. Also, don't forget to pack a snack and a water bottle if you'd like.

Announcing Every Kid in a Park

A new initiative to get all 4th graders and their families to experience the places that are home to our country’s natural treasures, rich history, and vibrant culture FREE OF CHARGE!
Beginning September 1st you will have access to your own Every Kid in a Park pass. This pass will give you free access to national parks, national forests, national wildlife refuges, and more!
The Every Kid in a Park pass will be available starting September 1st, 2015 and will be good for the 2015-2016 school year until August 31, 2016. More information will be available beginning in September.

Don't forget:
Sign-up for the Summer Reading Program at the library.
Have your parents send a picture of you reading, so that it can get posted on the Summer Reading Page.

Tom Watson was here!

On Tuesday, author, Tom Watson, visited with the children in our 2nd-5th grades. He taught them how to draw the characters from his book series, Stick Dog - which he autographed! The children also had the opportunity to get an autographed copy of his book. They are loving the books and can't wait for the next one to come out.

Everyday Math Website

Hi Parents!
I wanted to make sure you know that the children were each given a personalized username and password. One copy was sent home, and another is glued into their assignment notebooks.

Once logged in on the site, choose the current unit & lesson in this section:

Among other things, the website provides:

• pertinent vocabulary
• the Study Link (SL) page
• games
• an interactive Student Reference Book (SRB)

(The children are also allowed to bring the text home.)

At the bottom of the page is a section called, "More Stuff You Can Do." There you will find animated math strategies (algorithms), games for grades K-6, and many other great resources.
